Get Involved!
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the London and District Distress Centre.
In 2011, our volunteers contributed over 11,222 hours on the Distress Line, Seniors HelpLine and Crisis Response Line, providing immediate access to help and support to individuals in our community.
Volunteers are members of our diverse community who are interested and committed to helping others. Our training programs specialize in active listening, stress management, health care, crisis intervention, community resources and caring support. Call Volunteers contribute in many ways and share a common satisfaction in knowing that they are having a direct impact on people’s lives in our community.
Volunteers are carefully screened and undergo over 30 hours of one-on-one and group training. Volunteers also receive ongoing professional support and training sessions that are held throughout the year. Staff is actively engaged in providing advice and support as needed to ensure we serve the community in the best manner we can. We do ask for a commitment of 1 year & 16 hours a month. Successful candidates will need to obtain a Police Record Check and successfully complete the full training program.
