Welcome to the London & District Distress Centre!
For 35 years, the London & District Distress Centre (LDDC) has been providing confidential telephone support to members of our community in distress or crisis. Trained volunteers answer calls, 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days-a-year.

At LDDC:

  • we accept that calls are made at the caller's initiative.

  • we respond to callers with non-judgmental, empathetic listening and understanding.

  • we refer callers to other service providers, when appropriate.

Just the facts for 2006 . . .

  • 12,450 calls were received through the Distress Line and Seniors Helpline.

  • 11,067 calls were received through the Distress Line.

  • 1,383 calls were received through the Seniors Helpline.

  • 8,571 direct service hours were completed by our dedicated volunteers.

  • of the calls received, 421 were suicide-related calls.
